the impact you have on the world as a woman

As a woman, it’s frustrating when things are outside of your control. When decisions are being made for you, when people who have no clue about YOUR body, your self, your soul, are talking about it as if they know and have the power to control you.

It’s no secret these last few years have been tumultuous — challenging, frustrating. Seeing others’ rights being stripped away, under the threat of being stripped away — innocent POC murdered with no repercussions, and so, so much more.

So what to do when it feels like the world is falling apart and feeling helpless?

Remember YOUR power.

Energy is so important and we often underestimate our own importance and impact. I know it sounds crazy to think that focusing on your own energy, following your own heart could impact the world…

But it does.

Whether you see it or not, the way you carry yourself, use your voice, go after your dreams, or just show up simply as YOU — it impacts others.

People can feel you, people can see you — people are inspired to action because of you and you may never know that.

It may be that you show up to work each day positively and someone your coworkers look forward to seeing. Or perhaps it’s in the way you hold space for people, for your friend who always calls you or needs you — simply in the way you carry yourself and…how you are.

It’s just something you have to trust in.

This all came to me last night when I saw a politician saying horrible things about womens’ bodies, and being completely incorrect. I felt frustrated, angry and almost helpless.

Then it hit me why this work is so important.

This work of showing women their power that they hold, the truth they hold.

Knowing all it takes is one potential post, one podcast, one snippet of audio, one quote…

To move a woman to know her power and to tap into her feminine energy that could literally change the world.

And as this power transcends from one woman to the next, it creates a ripple effect. It’s immeasurable.

This power doesn’t have to look grand or huge — it can be in the way you mother your children, a kind smile you give to those you pass, the way you speak to someone, seeing something that she doesn’t see in herself…

The way you share your heart or laugh without care — all of it is inspiring and impactful.

The truth is, as you read this, you have no idea of the massive impact you’ve had.

And it all adds up — it really does. Every woman…we are apart of a powerful collective.

This is what is in your control, and what you can do each and everyday. You have no idea who you’re inspiring or who’s watching.

Even if we disagree with one another, we are here for one another. We look out for each other, we are empathetic, divine, compassionate, fierce, bold, unapologetic.

We are everything the world has ever needed and more.

It feels really bold to say all of this, and the reason I share this with you is…that everyone gets scared, everyone has doubts, and it can be scary to believe that YOU as a human, your WORK, your passions, your dreams are important and matter.

Because for some reasons we’ve been taught to believe that believing in ourselves and thinking what we have to do and say is important is…wrong.

Your heart is not wrong.
Your soul is not wrong.

Trust yourself. Be open to growth. Have conversations with those that disagree and instead of convincing, try to understand one another.

Have conversations with those YOU love and support — everyone’s experience is different. Talk with people, ask how they feel, listen to their stories, and hold space for them. This is how we learn and grow and stand together.

And…even when your voice shakes, when you feel nauseous speaking up…you can do this.

Speaking your truth can be hard when you are a compassionate, peace-keeper, non-confrontational person — you care what people think and want to be well-liked and loved.

But what’s more important than being well-liked and well-loved?

Going to sleep at night being at peace with your heart and with yourself.

Whenever I have stood up for myself, did things out of the ordinary for me, said things I didn’t know if I should…it’s all been made from that place of “Am I okay with my own heart in this, or will this keep me up at night?”

Know. Your. Worth.

Everything about you matters — the experiences you’ve been through, the tears, the hard days, the best days, the growth, literally everything.

And if you still don’t believe it for yourself, I am here to believe it for you until you do.

Follow your heart, know your power. Take the small steps that may not seem huge in the moment.

To loosely quote Beyonce, “There’s no trumpets that go off when you’ve made the biggest decision of your life.”

Rise up, nurture your heart, and keep doing the damn thing. For you and for women (and honestly, all humans) everywhere.
